Pool Lifeguard Award - Blended Course

The Pool Lifeguard course provides the minimum requirements for those persons wishing to provide supervision and integrated rescue responses in an aquatic environment. The course aims to establish competence in the required knowledge and skills, judgement and physical abilities for the supervision of people in swimming pools.

Description

Pool Lifeguard 

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive the following units of competency. 

 

HLTAID009 - Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

SISAQU019 - Supervise Patrons in Aquatic Locations

SISCAQU020 - Perform Water Rescues

SISCAQU21 - Perform Complex Water Rescues

SISCAQU022 - Provide Oxygen Resuscitation and Therapy in an Aquatic Environment 

 

Delivery

Pre-course work: Self paced learning which will involve answering questions which are to be completed online prior to attending face to face session

Face to Face Session: Completed with a qualified trainer and assessor at which practical and theory sessions will be facilitated. 

 

Course Length: 16 hours

Validity: 1 Year

 

 

Prerequisites

Participants must be 16 years of age. 

 

There is a physical component to the course. It is assumed participants are sufficiently physically fit to undertake this course. In will include kneeling, bending over, lifting, swimming, towing and other advanced water rescue techniques.
