Provide First Aid

The First Aid course provides the skills and knowledge to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings. The course aims to establish competence in the required skills and knowledge, judgement and physical abilities required to provide a first aid response to a casualty.

Description

This course includes training for a workplace setting and upon satisfactory completion of all assessment activities, a Statement of Attainment will be issued in the following Unit(s) of competency:

HLTAID009 Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Course Length: 5 hours

Validity: 3 Years, (CPR 12 months)

Delivery

Pre course work: Self paced learning which will involve answering questions which are to be completed in a workbook or online prior to attending a face to face session. 

Prerequisites

No pre-requisites.

To ensure a successful and effective learning experience, please review the following before submitting an application for enrolment in the First Aid course.

  • Minimum Age: 14 years.
  • Eligibility: Candidates must be Australian or New Zealand citizens or hold an appropriate visa allowing them to undertake education. 
  • Technology: Participants need to have access to a computer or smart device and an internet connection to complete the online and pre-course studies outside of face-to-face training sessions.
  • Physical Fitness: Participants must be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
